Life as an Alpha Chi is busy. If we have to pick one thing, our UH chapter is most proud of our service to the community. Alpha Chi Omegas are generous, compassionate and committed to helping others. On top of supporting the philanthropic causes of our fellow Panhellenic organizations, members are most dedicated to raising awareness and educating others about domestic violence.
The 1992 Alpha Chi Omega National Convention marked the adoption of domestic violence awareness as our national philanthropy. This issue affects women all over the world. Together, we work to fight against unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships. Members serve individuals and families impacted by domestic violence through fundraising and gifts of time and talents for shelters and other service-providing organizations. Alpha Chi Omega also works to educate its own members, giving them tools to build their own healthy relationships, and to raise awareness of domestic violence by educating others on the impacts of and work being done to end it.
In addition to their work year-round, our chapters work collectively to encourage others to support this important issue during Domestic Violence Awareness Month each October.
We are so proud of all of our sisters and friends who took part in the #TheseHandsDontHurt campaign in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month!#DVAM14
